The Foundation is dedicated to all the young student athletes of the Belmont Community, who too early have passed from among us. Two young people who symbolize the Foundation’s efforts are Scott Masse and Brendan Grant, who were both blessed with a magnanimous character and personality and made our world a better place. We remember them and others and honor their legacy.
Scott was an accomplished student athlete in baseball, hockey and golf where he excelled and was a leader on these teams (including as team Captains). As a BHS graduate from the class of 2002 his golf skills were legendary, symbolized by his receiving the Middlesex League MVP his Senior year on behalf of BHS golf. Scott was the recipient of the first Brendan Grant Scholarship awarded in 2002.
As a student at Belmont High School, Brendan participated in varsity football, wrestling, and baseball. In his senior year ('99-'00), he captained the Marauder wrestling and baseball teams. At American International College in Springfield, MA, Brendan became a first-year starter for the Yellow Jacket baseball team during the spring of 2001. Brendan played his last game on the Belmont High School field on 27/June/2001 following an on-field collision.
