Sunday, 21 June 2009:  The Eighth Annual running of "Brendan's Home RunTM" 5K Race & Walk took place on Father's Day 21 June 2009 at Belmont High School track.  Once again it was a great day for runners, and the course record was shattered by Dan Vassallo who re-claimed the champion's crown.  Dan ran the course in an amazing 15:07.9, dramatically breaking last year's record by some 17 seconds set  by Paul Ryan.  Race results are available at CoolRunning.com. 1 June 2009:  The eighth annual Brendan Grant Scholarships were awarded at the Senior Assembly at Belmont High School, Belmont, MA to 2009 Seniors Steve Amrein, Kayla Hoyer, and Vladislav (Larry) Shusharin.  Click here for the full story and picture about this year's scholarship recipients. 

Friday-Saturday, 22-23 May 2009: 
Good crowds and good weather were on hand for the Fifth Annual Brendan Grant Memorial Baseball Tournament, held at the beginning of Memorial Day weekend at the Brendan Grant Memorial Field.  Winchester came away as this year's champion, over runner-up Lynnfield followed by Belmont and Austin Prep.  Click here for the full story and pictures of the 2009 tournament.  

15/Mar, 22/Mar, 29/Mar, 5/Apr, 11/Apr & 19 April 2009:  The Belmont Marauders Baseball Camp for boys and girls ages 4 to 13 was held on six consecutive weekends (five Sundays and one Saturday) at the Belmont High School Field House from 15 March to 19 April 2009 to help young ball players sharpen their baseball skills.  This camp is now its third full decade of service to the youth of Belmont, and was co-sponsored by the Belmont Recreation Department and The Brendan Grant Foundation.  The Belmont High School Baseball team helps run the camp, and proceeds go to help defray their assorted costs including the annual Brendan Grant Memorial Baseball Tournament.

9:  The Eighth Annual Brendan Grant Wrestling Tournament was held at Belmont High School on Saturday 10 January 2009.  Just like in last year's tournament, once again sixteen high school wrestling teams competed during this all day tournament.  The overall team winner this year goes to Needham High School.  Click here for the full story.  Previously referred to as the Belmont Invitational Wrestling Tournament, this event has for the last 28 years been one of the premier High School Wrestling gatherings of its kind in the Northeast region. During the 1999-2000 season, Brendan was one of the Captains of the Belmont High School Wrestling Team.
