15th ANNUAL
BRENDAN GRANT
GOLF TOURNAMENT

Held Sunday, 17 September 2017, in Plymouth, MA on behalf of The Brendan Grant Foundation

Plymouth, MA: Plymouth, MA: Thanks to all who participated or were with us in spirit at this year’s golf tournament held on Sunday September 17th 2017 at Southers Marsh Golf Course. It was yet another great outing. The day started with dense fog that added to the 2017 Golf Tournamentmystique of the first couple of holes, but this quickly broke into bright sunshine and a beautiful warm September day.

Like in previous years, the tournament was held at Southers Marsh Golf Course in Plymouth, MA, amidst the rich cranberry bogs ready for fall harvest. There were plenty of smiles all around and lots of fun for all who attended, with of course some great golf skills on display. The 18 holes of golf began at 8:00 am sharp with a shotgun start. Southers Marsh was voted the #1 public golf value in Massachusetts by the 2008-2010 by the New England Golfguide, and best places to play by 2008/2009 Golf Digest (further information on the course is available at2017 Golf Tournament www.southersmarsh.com).

Five foursomes competed for a range of prizes. Trophies and prizes were awarded to this year's top foursome as well as second and third place teams. This year the top spot was a repeat from last year and was won by the foursome of Scott Brennan, Mike Potvin, Bob Sprowl, and Bob Winnett finishing 6 under par. Their names will be added to the "The Cedrone Cup”, which is named after Phyllis J. Cedrone, mother of Dawn Cedrone, the NFPA Health Club Director and a guiding hand in supporting all things relating to health and fitness. Phyllis was an accomplished golfer from Braintree MA who passed away in 1998 in her 56th year. Among her accolades, Phyllis was the BWGA 2017 Golf TournamentFourball Champion in 1979, 1980, & 1981, and BWGA Memorial Champion in 1984 & 1994.

Second place went to the foursome of Jay Bluestein, Lorraine Carli, Barry Perkins and Nancy Perkins finishing at 3 under par, while 3rd place went to the trio of Paul Carli, Eric Peterson and Rick Sterling. In other contests, the closest to the pin female was Lorraine Carli; closest to the pin male was Paul Carli; longest drive female was Lorraine Carli; and longest drive male was Rick Sterling.

The overall team results of the nine participating foursomes were the following:2017 Golf Tournament
1) Bob Winnett, Bob Sprowl, Scott Brennan and Mike Potvin (6 under par)
2) Nancy Perkins, Barry Perkins, Lorraine Carli, and Jay Bluestein (3 under par)

The course certainly has its share of challenges, with plenty of golf balls finding their way into the cranberry bogs. Once the fog burned away the bright sunshine welcomed the remaining 18 holes, and after everyone was able to relax and enjoy a barbeque lunch along with a raffle. Our heartfelt thanks go to all who participated or helped in some special way behind the scenes. We had lots of great raffle items this year, and a special thanks goes to all who provided prizes, especially Don Bliss, Lorraine Carli and Mary K Briand. We also tip our hat to Lorraine Carli for her efforts organizing this year's successful event.

It was a fun day of golf for all involved, and the proceeds from this successful event go to benefit the various on-going initiatives of The Brendan Grant Foundation. Many thanks to all, and we're looking forward to another great round of golf next season!
