BELMONT - The fourteenth annual Brendan Grant Scholarships were awarded at the Senior Student Assembly at Belmont High School in Belmont, MA on Friday, 5 June 2015. This year's recipients are class of 2015 graduating Seniors Nicolas Call, Lauren Noonan and Robert Moran.

2015 Scholarship RecipientsA single scholarship was awarded in 2002 and 2003, and in 2004 it was expanded to two annual scholarships. In 2008 the scholarships were expanded from two to three recipients for a college-bound Senior from the Belmont High School Varsity Baseball Team, Varsity Softball Team, and Varsity Wrestling Team. The team affiliations for each recipient are Nicolas Call representing baseball, Lauren Noonan representing softball, and Robert Moran representing wrestling.

In the fall of 2015, each of this year’s recipients will be attending their respective schools, with Nicolas Call attending Assumption College, Lauren Noonan attending Boston College, and Robert Moran attending Saint Anselm College. Sincere congratulations are extended to each of them and their families. The 2015 scholarship recipients are the 32nd, 33rd and 34th overall since this initiative started.

The Brendan Grant Scholarship has been established in memory of Brendan Grant, the accomplished 19-year old Belmont baseball player who was fatally injured in an outfield collision during a Senior Babe Ruth game in June 2001. The three annual scholarships provide assistance to a senior member of the Belmont High School varsity baseball, softball and wrestling teams who will be attending an institution of higher learning after graduation. The scholarship is intended to reward a player who possesses the same positive spirit and leadership skills for which Brendan was known.
