2006 BRENDAN GRANT SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO KELLY COATES
AND MARTIN CONNOLLY
BELMONT - The fifth annual Brendan Grant Scholarships were awarded at the
Assembly at Belmont High School in Belmont, MA on Friday, 26 May 2006.
This year's scholarship recipient representing the Belmont High School
Varsity Baseball and Softball teams are team Captains Kelly Coates and
Martin Connolly. Sincere
congratulations are extended to Kelly and Martin and their families.
The 2006 Belmont High School softball and baseball teams both had very successful
seasons. Each of this year's recipients have played an
important role in their team's success. With their outstanding leadership skills,
they've helped lead their respective teams to a playoff berth, and the
future of both squads is looking quite promising. Kelly will be attending
the University of New
Hampshire in Durham, and Martin will be attending Michigan State.
The Brendan Grant Scholarship has been established in
memory of Brendan Grant, the accomplished 19-year old Belmont baseball player who was
fatally injured in an outfield collision during a Senior Babe Ruth game in June
200l. The two annual scholarships provides assistance to a senior member of
both the Belmont High School
varsity baseball team and the Belmont High School varsity softball team who will be attending an institution of higher learning after
graduation. The scholarship is intended to reward a player who possesses the same positive
spirit and leadership skills for which Brendan was known. Click

All contributions are greatly appreciated, and can be mailed to "The
