5th ANNUAL
NFPA GOLF TOURNAMENT
Held Sunday, 24 September 2006, in Plymouth, MA
on behalf of The Brendan Grant Foundation
Plymouth, MA: Once again the Southers Marsh Golf Course
in Plymouth, Massachusetts hosted the 5th Annual NFPA Golf Tournament on Sunday,
24 September and was again a marvelous success on all accounts.
The 18 holes of golf
began at 12:30 pm sharp in a best-ball scramble format, and special thanks are due to
Dave Tourigny Sr. for all his effort organizing this event. This year's event was a
repeat of the 2004 event, with a focus of having an enjoyable day of
golf for those who love this outdoor sport and who also want to help the
Foundation's worthy causes. Get
the full story on the last time we were at this golf course in 2004 by

The Southers Marsh is a magnificently designed course, with cranberry bogs artfully woven through the various
links (click here for a link to
the golf club's website). Located on the beautiful south shore of metropolitan Boston
not far from Cape Cod Bay, these links are strategically located among
local cranberry bogs in a lush landscape of green and purple. The weather
had possible thunderstorms predicted for late afternoon, and fortunately
these never materialized and the weather cooperated
nicely and was almost perfectly comfortable with minimal humidity and
just the right temperature.
Eight foursomes competed for cash prizes. The winning foursome was the
team of Brian Bishop, Bill Gibson, Bruce
Mullin and Scott Hansen, which which also was
the leading team in 2004. The results are as follows:
Team Results
1) Brian Bishop, Bill Gibson, Scott Hansen, Bruce Mullen (8 under par)
2) Lorraine Carli, Nancy Hurley, Barry Perkins, Nancy Perkins (4 under par)

The course certainly has its share
of challenges, with plenty of golf balls finding their way into the
cranberry bogs. After completing the course, everyone was able to
relax and enjoy a barbeque dinner before departing to enjoy the remainder
of the
day. In addition, all participants received a new golf shirt as a
way of saying thanks for their support.
Again, many thanks go to all who participated, and especially to Dave Tourigny Sr. for
all his work putting this event together. It was a fun day of golf for all
involved, and the proceeds from this successful event have been donated to
benefit the various on-going initiatives of The Brendan Grant Foundation.
